Thursday 23rd January 2020 saw the David Collins Memorial Trophy – 3 round monochrome print competition draw to a conclusion.
Six members entered images in one or more rounds of this competition, with three members completing all three rounds.
The first round, judged by Nigel Plant saw Kirsty scoring two 20’s, for “Humpbacks lunge feeding” and “Look at me Dad!”. However Larry Walker matched her cumulative score on the night to come first equal with 55 points. Rodney Tordoff was third with 47 points.
The second round, judged by Peter Wells had only the above three entrants, with Larry taking the honours and the 20 on this occasion for “Jenny Ai”. He scored 53, to Rodney’s 50 and Kirsty’s 49. Cumulatively, this gave Larry a 4 point lead over Kirsty, with 108 points.
The third and final round was judged by Monty Trent, with two new authors entering the fray. Peter Walker scored a 20 in his first club competition for “With Brazilian Beach Babes” and Kirsty scored two 20’s with “Keir” and “Meerkats on the lookout”.
Peter Walker also scored 19 for each of his other two images, taking him to a total score of 58 on the night and first place in this round.
Larry and Kirsty both scored 54 points so, since Peter had only entered this one final round, this allowed Larry to win the competition by a comfortable 4 points.
The final result of the 3 round monochrome print competitions was:
- 1st – Larry Walker – 162 points
- 2nd Kirsty McLeod – 158 points and
- 3rd Rodney Tordoff – 144 points.
